SSH Browser Beta lets you route your Android web traffic through an SSH server you control, creating a private SOCKS5 proxy so websites see your server's IP instead of your device. The app tunnels browsing inside a standard SSH connection—no third-party VPN, no subscription and no shared infrastructure—making it useful for developers, sysadmins and anyone who needs private access on public or restricted networks. SSH Browser Beta combines a real mobile browser experience with bookmarks, tabs and fast reconnect behavior. Android 8.0 or higher and access to an SSH server are required.
Key Features
⭐ SSH Browser Beta creates a local SOCKS5 proxy by connecting to your SSH server, routing browsing through an encrypted tunnel.
⭐ End-to-end encrypted SSH tunnel protects traffic with standard public-key cryptography so external parties cannot inspect it.
⭐ Full-featured browser with multi-tab browsing, address bar, bookmarks, back/forward navigation and a tab switcher.
⭐ Instant reconnect automatically restores the SSH connection when you return to the app and shows status with a green bar.
⭐ Multiple SSH server profiles let you save servers, set a default for auto-connect, and switch servers with one tap.
⭐ Supports password and SSH key authentication, plus a test option to verify a server before saving.
Advantages
✅ Private browsing without relying on third-party VPN services or shared infrastructure.
✅ Full browser functionality built in, so you don't need a separate webview wrapper to browse through the tunnel.
✅ Easy management of multiple servers, quick reconnect and one-tap server switching improve usability on the go.
✅ Encrypted export and restore of server configs and bookmarks, with integration into Android's automatic account backup for seamless restore.
Disadvantages
❎ Requires access to an SSH server you own or trust; the app does not provide or host SSH servers for you.
❎ Encryption applies to browsing within the app through its SSH tunnel; it does not automatically provide system-wide VPN coverage for other apps.
❎ Requires Android 8.0 or higher, so older devices are not supported.
