Patchwork is a compact two-player strategy game that challenges you to sew the most aesthetic and high-scoring quilt on a personal 9x9 board. The digital adaptation preserves the board-game mechanics: patches are laid out randomly in a circle, you buy pieces with buttons, place shaped tiles on your board and manage a shared time track that controls turn order and income. Decisions about purchase timing, placement and passing are key—claim 1x1 scraps, race to complete a 7x7 square for a bonus, and balance income versus empty spaces. Patchwork rewards careful planning and tight placement in every duel.
Key Features
⭐ Two-player duels on a personal 9x9 board where spatial planning and tile placement determine the outcome.
⭐ Rotate and choose from the three patches clockwise of the spool, paying buttons to buy and moving the spool as you place pieces.
⭐ Buttons double as currency and points; earn button income when your time token passes income spots and from patch-printed buttons.
⭐ Five 1x1 scraps sit on the time track to be claimed during play, creating tactical opportunities to fill your quilt.
⭐ Endgame scoring, a possible 7-point bonus for a completed 7x7 square, and careful timing give Patchwork clear strategic depth.
Advantages
✅ Head-to-head competition that blends spatial puzzle-solving with economy and timing choices.
✅ Strong tactical depth: move order, passing for buttons and placement all interact in meaningful ways.
✅ Variable setup with patches placed at random in a circle keeps each match unpredictable and fresh.
✅ Scoring that balances currency and board efficiency—buttons are worth points and empty squares cost two points each, with the potential 7-point bonus for a 7x7.
Disadvantages
❎ Limited to two players, so it doesn't scale for larger groups or party play.
❎ Final scores can be negative and tight placement is punishing; small mistakes have a big impact.
❎ Random patch order and timing elements introduce luck that can affect outcomes alongside skill.
